Pathé Cinémas has been named the 2025 recipient of the “International Exhibitor of the Year” award, which will be presented during CineEurope, the official convention of European exhibitors association the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), in Barcelona on June 16. Pathé president Jérôme Seydoux will accept the award on behalf of the company.
Andrew Sunshine, president of CineEurope organizer The Film Expo Group, acknowledged Pathé’s role in advancing the European cinema industry, saying the group “continues to be an innovator and leader throughout the EU region, building a culture of modernization for cinemas and changing the movie-going experience for its customers.”
Headquartered in France, Pathé is Europe’s fourth-largest exhibitor by screen count, operating 129 movie theatres with 1,318 screens across 8 countries: France, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, and Ivory Coast. Pathé is also one of France’s leading film producers and distributors.
“At Pathé, we deeply believe in the future of cinema — in its power to bring people together and move them,” said Jérôme Seydoux in a statement. “We continue to invest in creating modern, comfortable venues that live up to the emotions our audiences come to experience. Thank you to CineEurope for this great recognition and to all our partners for their trust.”
Laura Houlgatte, CEO of European exhibitors group UNIC, noted she “also discovered the joy of cinema-going” in a Pathé theater as a child, saying that she was “thrilled” to honor the company with their exhibitor prize. “As a leader in the sector — both in France and in Europe — Pathé successfully and continuously combines innovation with operational excellence,” she said.
This year’s CineEurope runs June 16-19.
