South Park will finally return for its 27th season on Wednesday, July 9 on Comedy Central.
What craziness will be parodied in Season 27? Well, the teaser includes the line, “I’m just gonna do some ketamine and fuck around with the government a little,” so, that sort of thing.
The hit animated franchise has been away for a while. The show’s 26th season premiered more than two years ago, in February 2023. There was a TV special, South Park: The End of Obesity, in 2024, and a 2023 TV movie South Park: Joining the Panderverse. In 2021, TV movie South Park: Post COVID premiered.
South Park premiered on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997, following a viral animated short, “The Spirit of Christmas,” introducing us to Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. South Park was created by executive producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone; Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II also executive produce. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell and Vernon Chatman are producers. Christopher Brion is the creative director of South Park Digital Studios.

The teaser itself opens on some live-action images: empty park swings and an airplane wing. And then it gets animated: Randy asks his daughter if she’s been taking ketamine, “because I think it could really help you.”
From there, homes burn, the Statue of Liberty is yanked down, airplanes crash, and Diddy joins the boys on some sort of a mission that you probably don’t want to know too much about.
